These words, taken from Swamiji’s book The Time Tunnel, are fit to describe what’s happening with the Monastery in India right now: from Monks’ Week (pictures coming soon), to hot showers, kutirs construction, temple renewal, the new cow shed, and more! Read on to know more about recent developments.
Brahmachari Jaidhara, Riccardo and the local village residents have been working hard to make a proper area for the 6 cows that we own. The picture above shows Brahmachari Jaidhara helping on the frame of the Cow Shed. The next one shows him as part of a blessing ceremony for the beginning of its construction. More pictures of the completed area coming soon!
Thank You Michael Cooper for donating the coconut palm tree! It has been successfully planted near one of the monk kutirs.
We have also started the insulating process on the monks’ kutirs. Here’s a picture with a few happy fellow workers. Behind two more kutirs can be found.
The not-so-artistic photo (we’re learning) shows the three kutirs under construction from the top.
Thank you Suraj, Sapna and Shaun Pinto for donating the motion sensor which turns the light on when we need to walk up the stairs to the monastery. It turns off once we reach the top of the stairs, and it runs on solar energy, helping to keep planet Earth green. We all really love it!
A big thank you to the anonymous donor who paid for the solar hot water heater which allows the monks to take hot showers. It is very much appreciated! And thank you to Bijay for helping with the purchase and installation.
And finally, the monk temple is getting nearer to completion, after years of ups and downs and mishaps!
Aum guru!
