ABOUT US What does Ananda stand for? Ananda is your spiritual family. Based on the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda, the Ananda Sangha, founded by his lifelong disciple Swami Kriyananda, stands for the cultivation of harmony, joy and love for God. Ananda Sangha teaches us to work from our inner centre, inspired by love and brotherly feeling to all whom we meet.
The inner harmony we are able to create through regular meditative practices helps us to achieve harmony in the outside world too, with Nature and our environment, including family, friends, neighbours, and those who may not be well disposed towards us. Ananda Sangha teachings are non-sectarian, and can be a way of life for people of all sects.
Actualising the idea of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and inspired by the promise held out by Lord Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita, that “My devotees, enlightening one another, proclaiming Me always, are ever contented and joyful”
Our Ananda Sangha meditation group at Port Blair has been going for some time. May the Gurus bless us and all our Gurubhais all over the world. While the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are breathtakingly beautiful, the distance from any other part of India, or any other landmass for that matter, and the difficulty getting internet speed and connectivity is a formidable challenge to the life and updating of this web page. Nevertheless, as a part of the Ananda family, we are determined to carry on and will continue to carry on Master’s and Swamiji’s work here as elsewhere,for, as we are taught, one must keep going, and even the saint is a sinner who never gave up.

The Ananda’s centres in India offer initiation into the path of kriya yoga. At present, our main centres are in Pune, the Delhi area, Bangalore, Kolkata, and Chennai. They also offer ongoing classes on-line. You can read more on AnandaIndia.org and AnandaIndiaOnline.org.

Ananda Sangha Port Blair is currently engaged in Level I Meditation classes, and devotional chanting. The Port Blair group meets regularly for weekly satsangs on Saturday evenings at 4:30 p.m. and again on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m., enthusiastically practicing the Energisation Exercises taught by Guruji Paramahansa Yogananda and blissfully singing the melodious devotional chants composed by Guruji and Swami Kriyananda. This is followed by meditation, arati and discussion with prasad.

Very soon, ANANDA Port Blair would be starting Ananda Yoga based on Swami Kriyananda’s book on Raja Yoga, emphasising the involvement of the mind and the spirit while engaging in yoga asanas.
